Phemi Leadership is a coaching and consulting firm led by Michelle and William Chaney. With over 30 years of experience providing training for various industries including banking, telecommunications, non-profits and faith based organizations, Phemi has developed a reputation for team empowerment with excellence.
A native of New York City, Michelle Holmes Chaney received a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies with a minor in Sociology from Virginia Tech. After an eleven-year career in customer service and human resources, she returned to school to receive her Masters of Divinity from Candler School of Theology, Emory University in 2000, and a doctorate of Ministry from Wesley Theological Seminary in 2012.
Ordained in 2000, Michelle has served as Director of Recruitment for Candler School of Theology and as a faith and health consultant for several national programs at Emory University, the CDC and the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. As a trained Coach, Michelle provides consulting and coaching services coaching services for lay and clergy leaders who are ready to engage the church at a missional level.
Rev. William T. Chaney Jr. has been coaching and training leaders in churches, business and nonprofit organizations with over 500 coaching hours since 2005. William is a DISC facilitator an International Coach Federation Associate Certified Coach, and a CliftonStrengths Certified Coach.
Before serving in ministry William served as an Account Executive in an information systems company, area director for a national youth development organization and grant writer for health education nonprofit. William started an organizational development consulting firm, was the co-founder of the Atlanta Divinity Center and founding pastor of a new church.
William has served in full-time ministry for 25 years as a pastor, minister of music and District Superintendent in the United Methodist Church. In the United Methodist Church William currently, serves as a New Church Strategist in the Southeast Jurisdiction. William’s portfolio includes African American churches, pioneering new faith communities, and assessments. Michelle and William have been married for 18 years with one teenage daughter.
